Los 2000 fue la época que precedió a la edad de oro del Hip Hop. Con una base así, es normal que los artistas de los años 2000 destacasen enormemente. Fue una década en la que se hicieron grandes discos y se afianzó la carrera de muchos artistas que llegaron al final de la década de los 90.
Como vimos en nuestra lista de los 100 mejores discos de rap de los años 90, esos años dieron el pistoletazo de salida para que la música rap entrase en el mainstream. Pasó de ser un género musical marginal a liderar los tops de los más vendidos. Todo esto género una escuela que daría vida muchos de los artistas más prolíficos que tenemos actualmente.
